In My Learning Era
Follow me on my journey to learning and growing in the Applied Digital Learning program at Lamar University.
Call to Action
In my Call to Action, I am calling for an alternative form of learning, or professional learning for teachers. Rather than the 'Sit-and-Get' model of learning, I call for teachers to "Shake it Off" for a more interactive and engaging learning experience.

Why, What and How
WHY: I began thinking about past professional learning experiences from the last few years, and I’ve realized that the sit-and-get model is mundane and calls for a more interactive approach. As the technology world evolves, my goal is to provide a more interactive experience and contribute to the advancement of the professional learning community. As teachers, the biggest benefit to an alternative PL is the interaction and engagement of hands-on activities, which is a good model of how interactive and engaged activities should be modeled in the classroom.
WHAT: For this presentation, I will focus on an alternative approach to PL and demonstrate the importance of a more interactive approach, rather than the traditional ‘sit-and-get’ model. I chose Canva to present my presentation due to its efficiency and use-friendly platform.
HOW: I created this presentation utilizing Canva due to the feasibility and the accessibility to add speaker notes. Canva also offers many options for design themes and layouts, which adds many options for the presenter. I knew I had to be strategic to make my slides for the order they should be for the presentation. As for the references, I utilized resources from Eduphoria, Edmentum, and a blog by Lisa Scherff from the Institute of Education Sciences. As the presenter, I’m committed to changing PL for teachers–an authentic and engaging learning experience for them all so they too can change the classroom.
